This past week was quite long for me, simply because I have both kids at home. Vera was out of kindergarden due to her on-going cough. My days were filled with lots of activities: crafting, drawing, colouring, dough kneading, baking, going out, etc. I have to admit, I was exhausted. I drank 3 cups of coffee to keep me going through the day until PaPa came home from work! On one hand it was very nice to have both kids at home but on the other hand it was quite a challenge as well.
The girls loved any project that involved with their hands, which can keep them busy for a long time. I printed their favourite characters like Princess Lillifee, Red Riding Hood, A Knight and they could spend a long time (20 minutes!) colouring them. Kneading colourful doughs to make into shapes is another must-have. At the moment, Nora is very cheeky and likes to piss her sister off. She would take away Vera’s colouring pencil from the hand and ran away wanting her sister to chase after her for fun while Vera would scream and cry behind her sister asking for the pencil back. That happened quite often, either with pencil, cracker, a piece of paper, sticker, puzzle piece and so on.
On Thursday afternoon I suggested to the girls to go to the nearby park after lunch to do some sledding on the frozen lake. They were so happy. But when we got there we saw a few warning signs warning people not to step onto the lake because of broken ice and also a few accidents happened already. Although there were still people walking or skating on the frozen lake but I wasn’t going to take the risk with my girls. I had to explain to them why we couldn’t sled on the lake and they were very disappointed. When we found this green area which was covered with thin snow, they had fun sledding there.
Tomorrow we will bring Vera to her doctor to see if she is fit enough to back to kindergarden. If yes, I’m sure Nora will miss her sister. Have a good week!

Some random pictures:
- A view from the kitchen. The sky was so blue and bright this whole week but it was sooooo cold out.
- Fresh tulips from the market.
- A garden puzzle – What grows where?
- A bowl of instant noodle with an egg.
- Nora and her play dish.
- The empty grey wall in the living room. Right across this wall is a wall with a collection of picture frames in various sizes and we would like to put just one big picture on this empty wall. Mmm…
- Hello Vera!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Stay warm!

A beautiful day out, blue sky and sunshine, I can’t complain but I can only enjoy it from my apartment because it was way too cold to stay outside. When Nora an I went out to pick up Vera from the Kita, it was -7C degrees outside but felt like -17C (according to a weather forecast website). I bundled myself and the girls up from head to toes but I still felt very cold. It felt like needles prickling into the skin.

When we woke up this morning we were surprised to see from our bedroom window the ground was covered in snow. The girls were so excited and screamed out “We have to make a snowman!”. After breakfast PaPa took the girls out to the nearby lake but unfortunately the snow was still very fresh and not enough to make a snowman. Instead the girls made snowballs and threw at each other. I stayed at home and rested while they were playing outside because I was having a bad cough. My chest and throat hurt from coughing. I have to go to a doctor tomorrow.
Did you have a good weekend?

恭喜发财!Gong Hei Fatt Choy! Wishing my family, friends and to those who celebrate this special occasion a very happy, healthy and prosperous year in the year of Dragon!

Aah, I have been trying to update my blog this past week but it turned out to be quite impossible. The girls were very cranky and difficult, it was Terrible Two and Terrible Four phase combined! The going-to-bed routine didn’t go so smoothly as before and by the time they fell asleep we both were just too exhausted. We sat in front of the tv and watched The Big Bang Theory to cheer ourselves up! Sad but true.
Anyway, we went to the German Technique Museum on last Sunday. It was a very fun day, especially for the girls who were very excited to see ships, aeroplanes, trains and other big objects! I was very glad that the children were allowed to touch anything, what a relief not to always have to look after my shoulders so that my girls won’t break anything. That made the museum visit more fun and relaxing for their mommy, me!
I hope you had a good weekend and I hope my coming week would not be as difficult as last week. Have a good start to the week!
p/s: Strange! The categories just vanished!

It is going to be colder than the last few days in the coming days but the weather forecast says this weekend is going to be sunny! Yes, that’s what I want. I dislike the wet cold we have had last week. I would like to go to our neighbourhood’s farmers market tomorrow and maybe visit our garden. We were there last weekend but we forgot to bring the keys so we had to climb over the fence but we couldn’t get into our hut. To our shock, our flower beds had some choy-sum vegetables and a few roses. It showed how unusually warm this winter is. Ah, something happened yesterday. My new phone slid out from my bag and dropped on the ground when I took my bag out from the basket under the stroller. I haven’t gotten a case for the phone yet, shit. At first I discovered tiny scratches on the top edges which upset me very much but then later at home I discovered a crack the size of the tip of my index finger on the front glass panel. My heart sank. It is probably stupid to feel like that because it is just a gadget but… sigh. I’m feeling better now, just have to try not looking at the crack. I hope your week went well this week. Have a beautiful weekend!

Hello there, a very happy new year to you and I hope the year of the Dragon will be a prosperous and fortunate year to you!
I know I have been slacking with blogging. The last few months I have gotten lazy and was carried away by discovering, browsing and reading way too many fun and fabulous blogs, which sometimes I have to tell myself to take a break. But I guess I have taken a break from updating my own blog instead. OK, I have to change that, starting today.
I bought that old fashioned calendar above from a bookstore in Kuala Lumpur. I remember my grandmother used to have it in her apartment when I was very young. Each paper is very thin and each page contains a lot of information besides the date. It also shows the date from the Chinese lunar calendar, what to do and not to do (like good to get married or not good for moving) on that day, which hours of the day are considered lucky and unlucky and many other information. Of course I am not that superstitious but I found the calendar is quite fun and funny. I also remember my grandmother kept and recycled the pages after she tore them off from the calendar day after day. We used them for wrapping the orange peels while eating the oranges in front of the tv, wrapping the shaves after sharpening the pencils, using them as origami papers, etc. I will definitely keep the pages for the girls to do crafts with them.
I just looked back at the first post last year titled Happy 2011! and there was a picture of a very happy cheeky Nora. So I thought I will post a picture of her one year later, she is now 2 years and 4 months old. Peace Yo!
By the way, currently I am a big fan of the comedy The Big Bang Theory, so super hilarious!

Look at these sandals! I have never bought so many pairs of shoes in one day before but I just couldn’t help it today. It’s summer sale everywhere at the moment and when I walked into a children shoe shop this morning with the intention of getting Vera a pair of rain trousers (yes, this shop which is located just one block away from our apartment has always the most reasonable priced rain related children garments), I ended up leaving with these beautiful sandals as well. Actually both girls don’t really need new sandals at the moment because they are still wearing sandals from last summer, well, Vera had a pair from last summer which were a bit too big but now fits perfectly and Nora is wearing Vera’s old shoes. However, I gave myself an excuse to buy them some good new sandals for our Malaysia trip in October! And I got myself a pair as well! Each pair costs under 30 Euro, a real bargain for leather sandals, really.

Bayrischzell is a small town in the countryside about an hour away from Munich. It was where we were two weeks ago, together with MiMi, YeYe, Tante Ann and 35 other relatives and close friends who attended YeYe’s 75th birthday. It is a very beautiful and idyllic place, as if we have entered into a picture book. Mountains, meadow, cows, goats, horses and Bavarian guesthouses.

The birthday party was held at Sillberghaus, a mountain lodge at 1030m above sea and it was a 30 minutes hike to get there. I really liked and enjoyed my stay there. The staff were nice and friendly and the food was delicious. The rooms were clean and so nicely decorated, light blue and white and shabby chic. The atmosphere and surroundings were so welcoming overall. We had a wonderful time up there and had so much fun at the birthday bash.
