Little Red Riding Hood & the Wolf

It’s dressed up time! Carnival season (Fasching) has begun on Sunday in Germany and most kindergartens celebrated Fastnachtsdienstag (Pancake Day) today which children dressed up in costumes and makeups. The girls were very excited and when I asked what they would like to be, Vera wanted to be a wolf and Nora wanted to be the red riding hood. We bought several felts in brown and white and other materials needed on Saturday and I spent the evenings over the weekend hand-sewn the wolf costume. The ears on a hairband, the fake fur which I unbuttoned from a jacket hood and sewn on a t-shirt, a tail sewn to her pants and a pair of paws. Actually it was not that much to do but hand-sewing did take quite some time. As for Nora’s red cape, I simply bought a small flannel blanket in red for Euro3 and turned it into a red cape with the help of a simple pattern which I found online. It took only a couple hours and the green clover which was already on the blanket made it looked even cuter! I’m so happy that it turned out nicely and the girls were really happy with their costumes. *HAPPY*

I *Heart* My Girls

I really love these photo booth styled pictures taken from the IncrediBooth phone app, so much fun and so gorgeous! Vera is staying home this week because she got a Croup cough attack on the weekend. Her cough sounded like “barking”! So hoarse and scary. We quickly called the pediatrician at 10pm and luckily we had the medicine we needed to treat Vera. Even though she is better now and only has “normal” cough, we decided she should just stay home and rest. Therefore my week this week is a little bit different, I have to think of many activities for both girls. I always wonder, how did my grandmother manage 10 children?

Happy A Nice Weekend

It is going to be colder than the last few days in the coming days but the weather forecast says this weekend is going to be sunny! Yes, that’s what I want. I dislike the wet cold we have had last week. I would like to go to our neighbourhood’s farmers market tomorrow and maybe visit our garden. We were there last weekend but we forgot to bring the keys so we had to climb over the fence but we couldn’t get into our hut. To our shock, our flower beds had some choy-sum vegetables and a few roses. It showed how unusually warm this winter is. Ah, something happened yesterday. My new phone slid out from my bag and dropped on the ground when I took my bag out from the basket under the stroller. I haven’t gotten a case for the phone yet, shit. At first I discovered tiny scratches on the top edges which upset me very much but then later at home I discovered a crack the size of the tip of my index finger on the front glass panel. My heart sank. It is probably stupid to feel like that because it is just a gadget but… sigh. I’m feeling better now, just have to try not looking at the crack. I hope your week went well this week. Have a beautiful weekend!

Two Happy Cooks

I can’t believe Nora will turn 2 very soon. In 5 weeks. She loves to play cooking and she feels very proud of herself with this outfit . Can you see how happy she is? She can be quite a “thick head” (very stubborn) and can be a bully to Vera as well but the moment I ask her to make us a cup of tea or cook us some pasta, she stops whatever she is doing and gets busy with her cooking utensils. I even keep her busier by asking for more milk, sugar, salt, pepper and so on.

Vera is not so much into playing cooking because she prefers the real cooking, real utensils and real food. She loves to ask what the food are and how we cook it. She wants to help with washing the vegetables or fruits. I just adore her two front teeth in this picture!

The Napping Statue of Liberty

Nora’s tiny bed is getting fuller. Today she brought a tree and a book to go to nap with her besides her loyal companions, the doll and the monkey. By the way, doesn’t she look like the Statue of Liberty? The tree as the torch and the book as the tablet. Have a nice weekend!

A Mini Vacation

We spent a four-day long weekend at the garden and it was like a mini vacation for us. Despite the too-hot-for-my-taste sunny weather which reached up to 32C degrees in the afternoon, we had a great time with our girls and some friends, whom I called them our “garden friends” because they are families with small children like us and have a garden nearby and that was how we met. Spontaneously we had a barbecue on Sunday noon under the cherry tree with our garden friends. Seven adults and eight children equal plenty of fun! Vera has a new good friend called Frieda. :)

On our first day in Bayrischzell, the girls took a stroll with their grandparents and wanted to feed the cows. However the cows were really shy because we were told they just came out to the nature for the first time after staying in the stable a long time due to long winter and needed a couple of days adjusting to the new environment. Vera was really disappointed and kept saying “The cows didn’t want to eat my flowers”. :)

A Paper House

I bought a paper house for the girls yesterday and it was a great toy. They were very excited when they first saw it and quickly put their cooking toys in the house and started playing. Of course my concern was how long this paper house will last. The answer came ten minutes later when Vera tumbled as she left the house and ripped the door a little by accident. Oh well, it is still a great toy.

A Great Team

We just came back from a small vacation in south of Germany. YeYe celebrated his 75th birthday together with 35 close friends up in a hut in a mountain and everyone had a great time. I wish I could show some pictures but I first need to get them from Tante Ann! Well, I will post a cute picture of the girls taken a couple days ago instead for now. They were sharing a chair at the piano with Vera playing the piano and Nora flipping the pages of a children song book. What a great team.
